Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.
Seriously? I'm so tired, it's going to take a lot of effort to even write this post. Could someone please explain to me how mothers "do it" -- To all you moms out there who have or have ever had 3 or more kids 4 and under: This one's for you....
So, this is Not Me Monday: Auntie Anne Style because I had the absolute pleasure of keeping my 2 nieces, Isabella {4} and Cassidy {2} (Khaki) and nephew, Nathan {1} -- I thought you'd enjoy a few things I did not learn about mothers...
- 6 a.m. is the new 9 a.m.
- Someone said diamonds were a woman's best friend, but they forgot to mention wipes are a mother's best friend
- Brushing your teeth is a luxury
- I fully believe it was a mother who discovered Coffee -- Too bad she never gets to drink it hot
- I don't think I can be a mom because I wouldn't sleep for the next 18 years
- A baby monitor becomes your most important form of communication
- Was that me who judged mom's who use the TV as a babysitter
whilst she cleans the kitchen for the 9th time that day? Oh. It wasn't? OK. Just glad we got that straight, b/c that would be ridiculous. - Refrigerators are merely a means of storage of half eaten/half drank items to be disbursed every 19 minutes
- I'm adding the microwave and nap time to the list of inventions by moms
I do realize that any mom reading this post is likely rolling their eyes thinking "Oh, this naive, childless woman... she has so much to learn" -- You're right... like the fact that offering to care for your brother & SIL's 3 kids, 4 and under for a whole weekend would not be the most serious form of birth control ever.
Oh, yeah and something else I did not learn? If you don't eat on purpose, you'll starve to death. I reheated my food 4 times
One last thing I have not learned? Thinking that getting a puppy would "prepare" me for children is like saying running around my driveway is going to prepare me for a 26 mile race.
Is there a book on what to feed kids? I just thought it would be so fun to make spaghetti for the kids... All I have to say is see pictures below - I was cleaning sauce off of every surface in our kitchen for the next 24 hours :)
I have another question. How do you sleep? The first night neither D or I slept even one wink. I kept thinking I heard someone fall off the bed or stop breathing. Talk about anxiety! Oh. Wait. I already know the answer to this one... you sleep out of sheer exhaustion! The second night the house could have fallen down around us and we wouldn't have heard it -- NOT US! :)
Last, but most certainly not least. D was amazing. He totally took them for horse rides, horse cart rides
All in all?? They were totally worth every minute. They are precious and bring us so much joy

LOVE the pics and LOVE your not me Monday!
Now I can see why you're tired. My best friend has 3 kids and I don't know how she does it. The pictures are adorable.
*sigh*
Rookie.
That's all I can say.
Like I said before... that's why God gives us one at a time... so you have time to adjust slowly. :D
Looks like you had a great weekend!
You had me ROFL today - 'like saying running around my driveway is going to prepare me for a 26 mile race'. You are too funny, girl!
stick with the puppy... lol... it's nice to send them home, hunh???
Hahaha! Sounds like quite the weekend. Glad you made it through.
This was too funny!
A dog can't prepare you...sorry. :)
You survived though. Looks like they loved it!
haha great post! Cute pictures!!
What precious pictures!!!!
It may sound crazy...but I'm totally jealous! I can't wait to be a mom.
GREAT Not Me Monday! You had me laughing out loud. Looks like the kids had a lot of fun! :)
Great post! I was laughing out loud while reading it...and the pics were just the icing on the cake. Looks like you had a fun {but exhuasting!} time. How special to have those good memories with your nieces/nephew!
Love the pictures! you holding elly with the horse is my fave. :) You are such a fun aunt. (and you live in SUCH a different place than me! It's exciting! :) )
You never get to eat breakfast while it's warm, at least, either. I guess it's a good thing God made me to be not the biggest fan of breakfast.
OH MY! Bless your little heart!! hahaha, this post had me cracking up but I can so feel for you. Brave woman you are!! ;)
Oh how funny! Im with you on this! We had our 3 year old neice for a weekend and the TV was my savior and I think I got a total of about 8 hours of sleep the entire weekend! I could not imagine having 3 at once!
I love this post! Sounds like it was stressful but it looks like a lot of fun too! You are so funny!
I forgot to mention that I left something for you on my blog!

Hahah. So you and the dogs are happily childless and your husband can replant the flowers while the kids arent looking huh? ;D
Glad you had fun.
Oh my. Kind of reminds me of me before I learned to TIRE them out, and to feed them outdoors, not kidding. My niece and nephew are the best... Fuel them up, tire them out recover, and repeat...many times They are adorable!
Classic post! Love the pics, too.
Winks & Smiles,
Wifey
Love the pictures!
And, you are right..you sleep because you are too tired not to.
And, the fridge? Just last week I knocked over a cup of half used juice! Ugghhh what a mess!
I think you learned a lot!
that was great! what a glimpse into what was all going on for you guys. don't you love seeing your hubby being so great with the kidos? that's got to feel good. and you didn't even mention...when do parents fit in time to even procreate?!
You made me laugh!! It looks like a terrific (and also stressful!) weekend!
I hope this week isn't too busy for you.
Happy Easter!

Holy Cow! I'm tired just reading that. The kids looked like they had so much fun though!
One word:
Benadryl...
Just kidding! (Although I know of someone who really did this and whose children all lived to be adults! Now whether or not they are well-balanced, healthy adults...I cannot tell you....) And it was NOT me! I promise! I will tell you that I have been tempted. But I know how you feel...you look at them, (like in that last photo of the two little angel faces) and you think, "Oh, Bliss! Oh, Joy!" That's how I am with my grandbabies. The time I have with them is 99 parts heaven, one part (the other place). And I wouldn't change a thing. OK, I would, but I can't!
